Epimedium alpinum'Rubrum' Barrenwort is an excellent shade ground cover with green, heart-shaped foliage. The new growth of Epimedium 'Rubrum' is flushed with red. Its delicate, pinkish-red flowers dangle from wiry stems in early spring. Semi-Evergreen.
Epimedium 'Rubrum' prefers partial to full shade and cool moist soil, but will tolerate drier conditions once established. Epimedium alpinum can tolerate clay soil. This is a good ground cover perennial for dry shade.
