Description

Lonicera sempervirens is a semi-evergreen, twining vine that produces clusters of 2" yellow-centered, red, trumpet-shaped blooms starting in mid-spring. Hummingbirds and bumble bees appreciate its flowers' nectar, while songbirds love the red berries that follow. Also known as Coral Honeysuckle, this perennial climber has woody stems with attractive papery, orange-brown exfoliating bark. Its paired, blue-green leaves are fused at the base.

Lonicera sempervirens is native primarily to the Coastal Plains of the Southeastern United States from Texas to Florida into the mid-Atlantic, but it may also be found as far northward as Maine, Michigan and Iowa.

Lonicera sempervirens prefers sun to light shade and moist soil. It will tolerate dry soil and drought, once established. Bloom is heaviest in full sun. It flowers on old wood so prune just after flowering.

We ship via UPS or USPS (the Post Office), and their ship rates are automatically generated through our site. We do not profit on shipping costs. We are working with these providers to get our customers the best rates possible.

All ship times are subject to change if extreme weather conditions are present here at the nursery or at the shipping destination.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.

We are currently not able to ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and outside of the US.
