Polemonium yezoense 'Purple Rain Strain' produces clusters of large purple-blue 1" flowers held well above dark purple-tinged foliage on dark purple stems. The attractive evergreen foliage with ladder-like leaflets has a reddish purple color from winter until early summer. Polemonium 'Purple Rain Strain' will usually repeat bloom if deadheaded. This perennial is worth growing for its foliage alone. It is lovely combined with brighter leaved plants, whether in the garden or in a container.
Polemonium yezoense 'Purple Rain Strain' prefers morning sun to mostly shade and consistently moist, humus-rich soil. This is an Asian species.
