Mitchella repens is a mat-forming evergreen perennial with dainty pinkish-white flowers in late spring. Its common name, Partridge Berry, comes from its delightful scarlet red berries that birds love to feast on.
At only 2" tall, Partridge Berry makes an excellent ground cover in shaded areas. It can be grown under trees and shrubs without fear of it climbing. It is a politely slow spreader, and may not be ideal for large areas.
Mitchella repens is native to Eastern North America where it grows in woodlands and along stream banks. Bring a touch of natural heritage to your garden and attract birds with Mitchella repens Partridge Berry!
