Blue Moneywort, or Lindernia grandiflora, has light, apple green leaves that hug the ground to form a tight, weed-suppressing mat. Plants are topped with white-throated, purply blue flowers all summer and fall. Lindernia grandiflora is great around stepping stones or trailing over walls or containers. Although deciduous, it will maintain a green underlayer in mild winters.
Lindernia grandiflora is native to Georgia and Florida, but is reliably hardy in Zone 7.
Lindernia grandiflora prefers full sun to light shade and is happy in wet to dry soil. Blue Moneywort tolerates moderate foot traffic and makes an exceptional ground cover in moist to dry sites. Space on 8" centers.
