Iris versicolor, also known as Northern Blue Flag, has lovely, lavender blue flowers that appear in early summer over upright sword-like foliage. It is a vigorous perennial that forms spreading clumps.
Iris versicolor is native to northeastern North America. It is indigenous to marshes, swamps, wet meadows and other naturally moist or wet areas.
Iris versicolor prefers sun to part sun and moist to wet, organic-rich soil. Great for pond-side plantings. Very nice for naturalizing in wet locations.
