Hosta 'June' has mint green new leaves with blue-green margins. The centers mature to gold or cream with blue-green borders. Showiest color is produced in bright light. 'June' has leaves with good substance that are slug resistant. It is topped by pale lavender flowers on 24" scapes in August. Hosta 'June' is very popular with both landscapers and homeowners due to its excellent performance. It was chosen as America Hosta Growers' 2001 Hosta of the year.
Hosta 'June' prefers partial to full shade and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Also known as Plantain Lily, Hosta will grow in ordinary garden soil and withstand drought, but they are most beautiful when provided consistent moisture. They will tolerate clay soil and can be grown under black walnut trees.
