Hosta 'Great Expectations' has thick, cupped leaves that emerge blue-green with yellow centers. The centers become more creamy white in summer. Plants are topped by stems of white flowers in July. The heavy leaves are fairly slug resistant. 'Great Expectations' is a relatively slow grower, but worth the wait - Great Expectations fulfilled!
Also known as Plantain Lily, Hosta will grow in ordinary garden soil and withstand drought, but they are most beautiful when provided with ample moisture and organic matter. Can tolerate clay soil. Can be grown under black walnut trees.
Plantain Lily are classic perennial shade garden plants that will also grow well in containers.
