Helleborus foetidus, also known as Bear's Foot or Stinking Hellebore, has multi-fingered, dark green foliage and produces light green blooms in early spring. The flowers are occasionally rimmed in maroon. The foliage often takes on lovely maroon tinges. It is usually evergreen, except in severe winters. Readily self sows.
Helleborus foetidus prefers light or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Deciduous shade is great.
