Eryngium planum 'Blue Hobbit' has intense blue flowers on silvery blue, branched stems that arise from a basal rosette of thistle-like foliage. Also known as Sea Holly, their showy lavender calyxes create an interesting collar to the flower heads. The compact plants of perennial Eryngium 'Blue Hobbit' can be grown in containers. The exquisite blooms are good for cutting and drying.
Eryngium planum 'Blue Hobbit' prefers full sun and average, well-drained soil. 'Blue Hobbit' is also tolerant of clay soil and coastal conditions. For drying, cut stems before flowers are fully open.
