Description

Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe, Green and Gold is a compact, rhizomatous perennial with soft green foliage. Yellow to gold, 1" blooms with five rounded petals are produced in spring and occasionally in fall.

Also known as Goldenstar, Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe is native to the Gulf Coast states, including Florida. It is typically found in dry to average soil in light shade such as woodland edges.

Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe is easily grown in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in a woodland setting. Tolerates dense shade. Tolerant of clay soil. May go summer dormant in excessive summer heat.
