Ceratostigma plumbaginoides, or Plumbago, has clusters of bright, true blue flowers from summer through fall. Also called Leadwort, Ceratostigma plumbaginoides makes a great ground cover that spreads via rhizomes. The foliage of Ceratostigma plumbaginoides takes on a beautiful burgundy fall color. A deciduous perennial, it is good for over-planting spring bulbs since it is late to break dormancy in the spring.
Plumbago prefers sun to light shade and well-drained soil. It is tolerant of coastal conditions.
