Allium 'Millenium,' otherwise known as Ornamental Onion, sports 2" globes of purply-pink blooms on tall stems in mid to late summer over clumps of deep green, flattened, grass-like leaves that arise from the soil line. Unlike many others, Allium 'Millenium' is a true clump former with sterile seed so it does not spread about the landscape. Allium 'Millenium' was chosen as Perennial Plant of the Year in 2018 by the Perennial Plant Association.
Ornamental Onion is a bulbous plant that prefers full sun and well drained, moist to dry soil. Allium 'Millenium' is also well-adapted to sandy soils. Great as a cut flower.
