Viola sororia 'Freckles' Violet

Viola sororia 'Freckles' has white blooms speckled with violet that rise above heart shaped leaves in spring. A variant of our common violet, it is perfect for petite bouquets. It leaves and flowers are both edible. Viola 'Freckles' is super cute, but it readily self-sows, so be careful where you plant it! It will throw seeds into lawns, crevices and any free spot of soil. It is a good ground cover where spreading is not an issue.

Viola sororia is native from the east coast westward to North Dakota down to Texas. Also known as Common Violet, it is usually found in prairies, savannas, open woods, waterside and on wastelands. It is a favorite host for Fritillary butterflies.

Viola sororia 'Freckles' prefers partial shade and moist soil. It will tolerate sun if given ample moisture. It is drought tolerant and pest resistant.

We ship via UPS or USPS (the Post Office), and their ship rates are automatically generated through our site. We do not profit on shipping costs. We are working with these providers to get our customers the best rates possible.

All ship times are subject to change if extreme weather conditions are present here at the nursery or at the shipping destination.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.

We are currently not able to ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and outside of the US.
