Monarda didyma 'Cherry Pops' has dark green foliage that sets off brilliant cherry red blooms in mid to late summer. Also known as Bee Balm, it forms upright clumps that gradually enlarge, but do not "run" all over the garden. Monarda 'Cherry Pops' is part of the Sugar Buzz series, bred for their compact form, mid-height, and mildew resistant foliage, as well as floriferous nature.
Monarda didyma is a perennial that is native to the eastern United States and Canada, as well as to Washington and Oregon. It is naturally found in wet meadows, bottomlands, moist open woods, thickets and other wet sites, most commonly in mountain areas.
Monarda 'Cherry Pops' prefers full sun to part shade and consistently moist soil for best appearance. If foliage gets ugly cut back hard for fresh clean growth. Long blooming, if kept deadheaded.
