Description

Iris cristata, or Crested Iris, has light blue to lavender miniature iris blooms held amongst handsome fans of short pale green strap-like leaves. Iris cristata is a fast grower and spreader. Crested Iris makes a nice ground cover or edger for perennial shade borders and rock garden or woodland garden.

Iris cristata is native to parts of the Southeast, eastern Midwest and mid-Atlantic states, where it may be found in peaty woodland soils.

Iris cristata prefers part sun to shade and moist to average, well-drained soil. It can tolerate a wide range of conditions, including dry shade.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.
