Rudbeckia maxima, also known as Giant Coneflower has 12" leaves with a hazy silver-blue sheen. Its erect stems, up to 7' tall, support yellow flowers with large dark cones. It will rebloom if stalks are removed after first bloom period. It is attractive to native bees and butterflies and the long lasting, attractive cones are also enjoyed by birds. It will readily self sow.

Rudbeckia maxima is a perennial that is native to the south central United States. It is typically found in sunny sites such as moist meadows, prairies, pastures, open woods, roadsides and along railroad tracks. It is attractive to native bees and butterflies.

Rudbeckia maxima prefers full sun to part sun and moist to average, fertile soil. It is drought tolerant once established.

All orders placed now will be held until late August/early September when our fall shipping season begins. We stop shipping plants every summer due to the high temperatures. We appreciate your patience!

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.
