Description

Echinops ruthenicus 'Platinum Blue' has spiny, amethyst-blue globes up to 2" in diameter that appear on upright, silver-white, branched stems. The foliage of Globe Thistle Echinops 'Platinum Blue' is rough and bristly with white undersides. This tall, upright, sturdy perennial plant lends great structural interest to the garden. The unusual blooms make good cut or dried flowers.

Echinops ruthenicus 'Platinum Blue' prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It is happy in poor, sandy, and dry soils and works well in coastal conditions.
