Description

Orostachys macrophylla forms a large, pale green rosette of fleshy leaves that surrounds itself with young "pups" on the underside. In late summer the main rosette elongates upward into a long cone (Dunce Cap) and bursts out with white blooms at the summit. After blooming the parent plant of Orostachys macrophylla dies, but the babies (pups) that surround it will replace it.

An Asian native, Green Dunce Cap is an unusual plant for containers, walls and curiosity gardens.

Orostachys macrophylla prefers full sun and average to poor, well-drained soil. This is a deciduous plant that will disappear in winter, unlike the Hens and Chicks, which it resembles, but it will return in spring.

We ship via UPS & USPS (the Post Office), and their ship rates are automatically generated through our site. We do not profit on shipping costs. We are working with these providers to get our customers the best rates possible.

All ship times are subject to change if extreme weather conditions are present here at the nursery or at the shipping destination.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.

We are currently not able to ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and outside of the US.
