Description

Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Storm Cloud' is a new classic with near-black stems emerging in spring with silver-veined, very dark green leaves. Its stems remain dark throughout spring. Also known as Blue Star, it has loads of pale blue, star-shaped flowers for weeks in late spring. 'Storm Cloud' has a nice, mounding, shrub-like habit that stays upright into fall. Plants will eventually get wider than tall, so plan its space accordingly.

'Storm Cloud' is a cultivar of Amsonia tabernaemontana, a native from the East Coast to Texas. This perennial is typically found in rich, open woods, along stream banks and in moist meadows and prairies.

Amsonia tabernaemontana 'Storm Cloud' prefers full sun to part shade and consistently moist, well-drained soil. It will grow in poor, average or fertile soil. Plants are heat and humidity tolerant. We ship via UPS or USPS (the Post Office), and their ship rates are automatically generated through our site. We do not profit on shipping costs. We are working with these providers to get our customers the best rates possible.

All ship times are subject to change if extreme weather conditions are present here at the nursery or at the shipping destination.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.

We are currently not able to ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and outside of the US.
