Medium sized, waxy rosettes of gray-green leaves that have blood-red tips and margins.
Commonly referred to as Hens and Chicks, this hardy succulent is very distinctive! After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks). Sempervivum 'Black' prefers poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Useful in strawberry pots, between stepping stones, and in rock gardens.
