Gray-green leaves are slender and pointed. Heavily stained with red. Chicks appear on bright red stolons. Medium size.
Commonly referred to as Hens and Chicks, this hardy succulent is very distinctive! After flowering, the mother plant (hen) dies to make room for the offsets (chicks). Sempervivum prefers poor to moderately fertile, sharply drained soil. Useful in strawberry pots, between stepping stones, and in rock gardens.
