Saxifraga veitchiana is a perennial with thick, rounded, slightly scalloped, quarter-sized, green leaves on reddish stems that form cute rosettes. Also known as Rockfoil, it produces sprays of unusual white blooms in early summer. Individual blooms have two larger white petals extending downward and three tiny petals extending upward. They may be spotted with pink or red. Saxifraga veitchiana spreads slowly above ground via fine runners, similar to strawberry plants. It is a nice, evergreen ground cover for shady areas.
Saxifraga veitchiana is best in shade with moist, well-drained soil.
