Penstemon barbatus 'Twizzle Purple' produces tall spikes of 1" tubular dark purple bells on upright plants. 'Twizzle Purple' flowers late spring through early autumn. It retains its attractive basal foliage in the winter. Also known as Beardtongue, hummingbirds and other pollinators will visit Penstemon regularly.
Penstemon barbatus is native to Texas and the Four Corners Region of the southwestern United States.
Penstemon barbatus 'Twizzle Purple' prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Good for loose, dry soils and sandy or rocky locations, it is drought tolerant once established. Penstemon 'Twizzle Purple' is a double award winner.
