Mukgenia 'Flame' has wonderful shiny, jagged-edged, leathery leaves that have crimson tips and margins. It is topped with clusters of deep cerise pink blooms on red stems in spring.
Introduced by Terra Nova Nurseries, Mukgenia Nova™ is an intergeneric cross between Mukdenia and Bergenia, whose foliage lasts longer in fall than Mukdenia. Long-lived and good in containers, its best leaf color is in the fall before it goes down for winter.
Mukgenia prefers partial to full shade, but will take sun. Best in average, well-drained soil that dries out slightly between waterings. It is not tolerant of drought.
