Heuchera x villosa 'Birkin' has beautiful light green, gently ruffled leaves with bright green edges, a rosy blush and red veins. Rounded mounds have fine stems of creamy little bell blooms in summer. Also known as Coral Bells, or Alumroot, this evergreen perennial is heat and humidity tolerant. 'Birkin' is suitable for containers.
Heuchera villosa is native to much of the eastern portion of the United States from New York south to Georgia and west to Mississippi. It is most common in the central Appalachian Mountains. Having H. villosa in the parentage generally gives Heuchera greater tolerance to heat and humidity.
Heuchera 'Birkin' prefers partial to full shade and consistently moist, well-drained soil, particularly in winter.
