Hardy Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel' has dark maroon, maple-like foliage that sets off brilliant red blooms that can get 8"-9" wide. A cultivar, of Hibiscus moscheutos, 'Midnight Marvel' flowers for 3 months plus starting in late June/early July. The foliage of Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel' will turn intense shades of orange in early fall while blooming continues.
Hibiscus moscheutos are perennial plants native to much of the eastern and southern United States. H. moscheutos is indigenous to low wet areas such as ditches, swamps, marshes, and river and pond edges, hence the common name Swamp Mallow.
Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel' prefers sun to part shade and moist to average, acidic soil. It is tolerant of clay soil.
