Arum italicum 'Pictum' has glossy, spear-shaped, wavy green leaves with silver-white veining in the winter. In May, greenish white spathes appear followed by red berries as the leaves disappear. All plant parts of Arum italicum 'Pictum' contain calcium oxalate crystals (skin, tongue & throat irritant). Also referred to as Lords and Ladies or Cuckoopint, this perennial is wintergreen.
Cuckoopint prefers light shade and moist, well-drained soil, but is tolerant of heavy, wet soil. Arum italicum 'Pictum' may spread indefinitely where happy.
