Description

A rhizomatous spreader, Waldsteinia fragarioides forms an attractive, glossy, evergreen groundcover decorated with yellow, five-petaled blooms from early to late spring. It is native to the Eastern United States where it grows in forests and streambanks.

Waldsteinia fragarioides is better known by its common name, "Appalachian Barren Strawberry", because while it resembles a strawberry plant, it produces no edible fruit.

Waldsteinia fragarioides Barren Strawberry is easy to grow and can thrive in shade to part sun, It prefers moist, well-drained soil, though it can tolerate drought once established.
