KNIPHOFIA

Kniphofia, also known as Red Hot Poker, has unusual spikes of colorful blooms that surround the wand-like stems. Its arching, narrow foliage is evergreen and usually deer resistant. Red Hot Poker prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. Kniphofia also tolerates clay soil and is hardy to zones 5-9.
