Hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise' is a small Plantain Lily, that has almost fluorescent gold leaves with dark green borders. The leaves are rounded, cupped and heavily puckered. Hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise' is slug-resistant and a fast grower. It is reputed to take some sun. Lavender flowers bloom on 18" scapes in June. 'Rainforest Sunrise' was chosen American Hosta Growers' 2013 Hosta of the Year.

Hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise' prefers partial to full shade and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Hosta will grow in ordinary garden soil and withstand drought, but they are most beautiful when provided consistent moisture. They will tolerate clay soil and can be grown under black walnut trees.

Plantain Lily are classic perennial shade garden plants that will also grow well in containers.
