Aquilegia 'Pink Lanterns' Columbine

Available Spring 2024

Description

Aquilegia canadensis 'Pink Lanterns' is a compact selection of our eastern native columbine with dainty pink blooms. Aquilegia 'Pink Lanterns' forms mounds of lacy blue-green leaves that are topped with fine stems of dangling, starry pink flowers from mid-spring to early summer.

Aquilegia canadensis is native to most of the eastern two-thirds of N. America.

For best results, grow Aquilegia canadensis 'Pink Lanterns' in full sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil. It will also tolerate dry soil and drought. If the foliage gets unsightly, trim this garden perennial back hard and it will flush with fresh, new growth. This is one of our favorites for its airy bloom stems and long flowering season.

Care and Growing Tips

For a tidy appearance, deadhead after blooming (cut each flower stem down to the rest of the foliage). The foliage may discolor in the heat or occasionally attract leaf miners. Trim off any affected foliage to encourage new growth.
This is a tough perennial that needs only occasional maintenance. It thrives in moist, well-draining soil, but will tolerate drought once established.

We ship via UPS & USPS (the Post Office), and their ship rates are automatically generated through our site. We do not profit on shipping costs. We are working with these providers to get our customers the best rates possible.

All ship times are subject to change if extreme weather conditions are present here at the nursery or at the shipping destination.

Please note: Depending on the time of year, the foliage of the plants may be trimmed to fit into our shipping boxes. This could delay the flowering of the plant, but many perennials actually benefit from being cut back.

We are currently not able to ship to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and outside of the US.
