Aquilegia 'Pink Lanterns' is a compact selection of the eastern native with dainty pink blooms. It forms mounds of lacy blue-green leaves that are topped with fine stems of dangling, starry flowers from mid-spring to early summer. Commonly referred to as Columbine, this perennial plant may not be long-lived, but it will readily self-sow. For best results, grow Aquilegia 'Pink Lanterns' in full sun to light shade and moist, well-drained soil. It will also tolerate dry soil and drought. If the foliage gets unsightly, trim this garden perennial back hard and it will flush with fresh, new growth.
